This one is a kind of “Hello” to the sudden influx of Charlie’s lovely viewers, thanks to a little mention he gave our channel at the end of one of his vids. (In Youtube terms, I think it’s fair to say that a “little mention” from Charlie is the equivalent of being tweeted by Stephen Fry…)

Plus there’s a Santa hat in the video. Which is about the nearest we’ve come to doing a Christmas-themed vid…

Hello. So. Because it seems like a fun (although arguably slightly vain) thing to do, we’re going to post all our vids to date on this site. So let us begin at the beginning, with “Drugs in Sport”. Ah, the memories.

This was nearly 3 years ago, back in the days of minimal lighting, on-board mic audio, and youthful complexion. I am fond of this one, though. Particularly the gag to do with testosterone which, I feel, almost realises it’s potential.

Dan, on the other hand, loathes the shoddy production and badly delivered testosterone gag. He also has a problem with the stripey shirt, and the seeming inability for us to look each other in the eye.

We are now on twitter. Is that what one says? “On twitter”? Or do I sound like someone getting it subtly but revealingly wrong? Like when old people ask for your number by saying “Are you on the telephone?”

Dan said it was something we had to do. We had no choice. A tide had turned and we had no option but to haul anchor and float with it, to give in to the gentle but insistent tug of progress. Those were his exact words, actually. (He’d been drinking and had that weird slightly sad look in his eyes).

No, your eyes weren’t deceiving you. That actually was me on Genius last night – albeit a slightly better groomed, 6-months younger me.

Judging by the sudden spasm of comments / emails / text messages, you all seemed to enjoy it very much. So that’s good. Suffice to say it was a blast being involved with it, and I was very chuffed they liked my idea enough to stage it. And use it as the series finale too!

Thankyou to whoever uploaded it (and, of course, the Beeb) – although they seem to have spelt my name wrong in the subtitles. Also, there was some quite amusing chat between DG and SL at the end, and there was also the moment when I actually won the show and was presented with a bouquet and the award. But the meat of it is in that clip. Enjoy.

… but not for much longer!

We thought we’d post at least ONE post within a year of our last, just to show willing. And we hang our heads in shame at the truly, breathtakingly slack nature of this website. We had such grand plans, but then… but then… we never got round to them.

But that will change. I guess what’s spurred us into action is our recent “Comedy Spotlight” on Youtube, for the Susan Boyle video, look, here:

With it comes the possibility that people might curiously head over to the site, so now would be a better time than most to announce that www.dananddan.com will, in time, be a lot more interesting.

I know, we’ve said that before, but we do intend to at least embed our videos here simultaneously, and in the coming days and weeks I’ll start doing that – beginning at the beginning, with our very first outing nearly 3 years ago. And just writing that makes me feel a little old.

Anyway, back to the website… Do you like it? It’s cool, isn’t it? I paid Dan to create the best site he could for £20,000. He said “No problemo” and a few months later, here it is!

Okay, granted, it’s not exactly what I had in mind, and I am slightly concerned that the colour scheme and layout bear a striking resemblance to the default Wordpress design. But, as Dan argues, simple is always better. And I guess £20,000 doesn’t get you far in the world of websites, eh?

Thanks for dropping by, do come along again soon, and hopefully there’ll be something more for you to look at. In the meantime, I’ll have a think about what our next blog message is going to be about… I’d better make it good, as it costs us £50 for each of these posts!
